Local rapper’s music video goes viral

With nearly 500k views just since its posting on YouTube this past Friday, the music video for “Sorry Not Sorry” from local Atlanta rapper Omeretta the Great (Omeretta for short) may seem to be an overnight sensation. Although a major reason for the tracks surge in popularity surely comes from its star name checking and even dissing cities and suburbs outside the city proper as quote “Not Atlanta”  – sorry College Park, Decatur, Gwinnet Co, and really anywhere else.

Yes that video was shot at Truist Park which is technically also not Atlanta but who cares if its a sick track right?  Details aside no less an important factor in the tracks success is the fact that its star Omeretta is a damn good rapper. With delivery and tone over slick beats that could be described as distinctly ATL, Omerretta brings a unique set of skills to the table that includes multiple cadences and rhyme schemes. No doubt Omeretta has been in the rap game for a minute – it shows.  A cursory inspection of her music on soundcloud yields she has been recording since 2016 and her debut cut on the application “Show Me Sum” followed shortly thereafter with the track “Zero Fucks” with local artist Lil Donald. “Zero Fucks” became a major sensation with 1 million plays as of this articles posting – kick stating a career for Omeretta who has produced 3 full length EP’s since 2016’s Black Magic: A Dose of Reality.  Based on her music alone its easy to understand Omeretta has a devoted following, add to the mix TV appearances on VH1’s Love and Hip Hop and a provocative image it’s clear that well be hearing more from this ATL native in the future.
